From this page you will leap into my world of short stories, a collection of tales that have been inspired by everything from a passing train to a pint of good ale.

Synopsis

Teacher Accused

I'm a teacher, dedicated to my profession. I never touched that girl. Surely they won't believe her over me....will they?

Arthur Knew He Didn't Fit

Arthur knew he didn't fit, it was a given. No question or argument, no deep philosophical ponderings. He just plain didn't fit.

My Name Is Not Important

As a regular airline traveller, and after reading yet another security alert from Washington, I began to wonder how easy it would be for a young fanatic to smuggle a bomb on board an aircraft. This short story explores that remote, and hopefully impossible, scenario.

I Must Survive

Our esteemed purveyors of science fiction promote the idea that one day we will have a benevolent collection of robots taking care of our every need and going where no human should ever go to preserve some idealistic concept of an ideal world. But what if one of those robots went wrong, blew a fuse, or generally became just plain nuts? This story takes a 'what if' look at just a scenario and makes a stab at what the consequences might be to humanity.

Do You Mind?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to read someone's mind? To be able to sense the thoughts and feelings of everybody around you? To know who is good, who is bad, who is happy and who is sad? To never feel alone again because even if you find yourself physically isolated you can nevertheless reach out with your mind and feel the company of your fellows? Well this dream might actually become a nightmare, never being alone, never being able to put your hands over your ears to keep out the noise. This is my attempt at describing what being a telepath could really be like.

Merry Christmas

The concept of time travel in science fiction is by no means new, it might even be described as cliched. But supposing our time traveller decided to take a trip 2000 years back in time to Palestine, sometime around Easter? What would he or she find when they arrived in a town called Jerusalem where a certain band of rebels had just been crucified by the Roman authorities?

The Examination

If you are of that age when exams are all that your life seems to consist of then I suggest you don't read this because it is based upon my recollections of what the examination room felt like.
